The Spring Tree planting 2019 by UOH at Working Folks Grammar School & College for Girls Haripur

With each passing day, our cities are becoming more and more grey. Their charming greenery now faces a bleak future. Haripur city is losing its green cover with at least a dozen trees perishing with each passing day after being chopped. As part of rapid urbanisation, unhindered construction activities on encroached lung spaces mocks the significance of the existing law protecting the green cover of the city, sounding death knell for these life saviours. When considering a global climatic change, the destruction of plants through  cutting and burning could raise atmospheric carbon dioxide levels above expectations. Because of direct competition, the aspiration levels in urban areas are very high, and this has an indirect effect on the environment, causing more industrialisation, and greater pollution.
There is an urgent need for an action plan to save the vanishing greens or else the city habitants will have to carry oxygen cylinders. The spring tree plantation awareness started in the end  of winter 2019. Almost all government agencies and non-government organizations are taking part in Spring planting campaign 2019.

Group 4 students of Department of Forestry and Wildlife Management, the University of Haripur also took initiative in this regard this year. The purpose of this tree plantation was expressed in brief topics as

(1) importance of birds in ecosystem, as like vultures as scavenger feed on dead (carcus) body of organisms, wrbler as insect eater role as pesticides, kingfisher and ducks as eat on fihes in water and make the balance ecosystem of amphibian, crow as dust particles.

(2) Forest products, like we made furnitures, windows, chairs, railway tracks, sports goods, cosmatics and many medicinal values and indirectly values like honey production etc.

(3) Importance of predators as prey populations controller, as like prey predator relationship like, common leopard feed on fox, fox  feed on pheasants, pheasants feed on insects and make the ecosystem clean as food chain process.

(4) successful planting with increasing population,  mean Pakistan population in 1947 is 6.5 million and forest cover was 4% and with passage of time Pakistan population have increased time by time forest cover remains to be increased as you know till 2015 Pakistan forest cover is 4.5% , and then Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government starts the Billion Tree Sunami Project and the forest cover of Pakistan is expected to increased and have great changes in climate like these season their were much increasing in rainfall and snowfall and the forest cover is increasing to 5.2% and the population of Pakistan is now 20 crore plus.

(5) Role of trees as windbreaks and shelter belts, Windbreak is Arrangement of trees against wind ,and the trees we planted against the wind  is in single row, it reduces the wind speed 60-80% and we formed wind breaks and shelter belts in Norh-West direction against leeward side, and their importance is to reduce wind velocity, Controll soil erosion, protect crop from lodging , what is crop lodging=mechanical ditruction of crops , Protect livestock for hot/cold. Shelter belts is Arrangement of trees against wind from leeward side and the trees we  planted in double rows. Importance: is we assume if wind is coming in 40-45 km/hr speed it reduces 20-30km/hr speed, it mean that it reduces 60-80% wind velocity, it reduces the distruction of floods, increasing in crops.
